Straight/very subtle-S off the tee will serve you well on about 1/3rd the holes, with another 1/3rd requiring gentle rights, typically near the basket, and the remaining 1/3rd being lefts, typically sharp/mid-fairway.Ī fun course to work on your short game, and quick to play. There's not much change in elevation nor distance on this course, so what alters between the holes is the density of the trees, where in the flight-path they appear, and the shape you need to throw to avoid them, all the while not permitting your disc to fly too high. Most fairways, and on about half the time, the ceilings, are defined by short (15-20'), twisting, narrow trees - oaks, I believe, but not anything like what we have up North! If you discount the three holes longer than 300' (#'s 3, 15, and 18), the remaining fifteen holes have an average length of less than 200', so this course is all about control, needing accurately to hit narrow windows. There are a couple of easier ACE runs and a few that would be skillful shots for the ACE. It might be a low lying branch or a series of saplings or a tight dogleg. Half the holes are less than 200' but each of these has something that makes it's unique or challenging. It's short with two holes playing over 300' and only # 15 stretching to 402'. The DGC baskets have the red number on the top. They also have the hole number on the opposite side for easy recognition when approaching them. The tee signs are mounted on 12" x 12" wooden posts, just about vandal proof. The course features more than adequate concrete tee pads. They're very informative with hole map, par, distance, arrow to the next pad, hole #. and closely resemble John Houck's green, metal map signs that are on many course around here. The 18 holes play through a fairly small, heavily wooded area. The course is short enough, that any coed can play without getting overly frustrated but technical enough to challenge most student golfers. Design, have put together an almost perfect little 18 hole course here. You still have a couple of holes you can let it rip on (well let it rip for my old arm) and several holes you need to be very accurate on with your drives. Would I play here again? yes I would, I enjoy shorter technical courses like this. The back 9 are a little hard to follow without a map, there are no direction signs to the next hole. Not exactly a novice friendly hole, but it is not a super song shot, I was so scared of throwing in the water I sailed past the basket into #10's putting area. You do have some memorable holes, #12 throws under a bridge, while short, it is a fun shot. These holes are pretty much away from most of the campus.īut then you walk over to hole 10, these holes are in the middle of campus. A couple of them are very hard left or right shots. I don't know if you need a permit to park, the parking lots seemed really full the Tuesday afternoon I played, but I got a spot right at the start of the course.įirst 9 holes are mostly very short shots though the woods. Other Thoughts: This is one of the better college campus courses I have played.
